Frequently Asked Questions
I’ve never had a facial. Where do I start?
Welcome. The best place to begin is the New Client Consult and Customized Facial. We’ll talk through your skin history, concerns, and goals, then I’ll tailor the treatment to your skin that day and send you home with a simple plan. If you’re short on time or live farther away, a Virtual Consultation is a great alternative and includes a credit toward products.
How do I book?
Book online any time through the booking page, or call or text me. You’ll choose your service and I’ll confirm the details.
What should I do before my appointment?
Come with clean skin if you can, though it isn’t required. Try to avoid waxing, retinoids, or strong exfoliating products for a few days beforehand, and let me know about any new products or medications. If you have a special event coming up, book a few days ahead so your skin has time to settle.
Contraindications. If you have had Botox or dermal fillers, please wait two weeks before a facial service. If you have had PDO threads, please wait one month.
Will my skin look red afterward?
Some treatments can leave skin looking a little flushed for a short time, which usually settles quickly. I’ll always tell you what to expect for your specific facial and how to care for your skin afterward.
How often should I come in?
It depends on your skin and your goals. Many clients enjoy a facial every four to six weeks to maintain their results, and some treatments work best as a short series. We’ll find a rhythm that fits your skin and your schedule.
Do you treat acne, rosacea, or other skin conditions?
As a licensed esthetician, I focus on the health and appearance of your skin through professional facials, customized products, and home care guidance. I don’t diagnose or treat medical conditions. If something needs medical attention, I’ll gladly point you in the right direction, and I’m happy to work alongside your dermatologist.
I have sensitive skin. Is a facial still for me?
Often, yes. Treatments like the Calm and Soothe facial are designed with sensitive and easily reddened skin in mind. Tell me about your skin when you book and I’ll keep everything gentle and customized.
I’m pregnant or nursing. Can I still get a facial?
Some ingredients and treatments aren’t recommended during pregnancy or while nursing. Please let me know when you book and I’ll adjust your facial to keep it comfortable and appropriate for you.
What products do you use?
I work with a curated mix of naturally derived professional skincare, including innovative Korean products and my own Beret Jane line, all chosen to suit your skin.
Can I buy the products you use on me?
Yes. After your facial or a Virtual Consultation, I’ll recommend the products best suited to your skin, and you can shop the Beret Jane line any time at shop.beretjane.com.
Where are you located?
I see clients by appointment in Mequon, Wisconsin. You’ll receive the exact address and directions when you book.
What is your cancellation policy?
Life happens. I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel. You’ll find the full details on the Booking and Cancellation Policy page.
